Mall Fun...

While at the mall on the hunt for cheap jewelry to match a green dress for an upcoming wedding...I spotted these.  I can't imagine using any of those colors on my face, well I'd settle for black...guess I'm just not much of a makeup girl.

Throwback Thursday

This is a shot I took last year when I was living abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  This is a photo of the street I used to live on, plus miles and miles of concrete for as far as the eye can see...

Lucky Shot #1

I'd say that a good number of my photographs are "lucky window shots".  Meaning that I rolled down my window while parked or at a red light and captured something that has caught my attention, usually at the last minute when the light is about to turn green.  This split second attempt to capture an image usually results in blurry, unusable pics, but every once in awhile I get lucky.  Today was a lucky shot of the Denver skyline at dawn.

Trees: Pic #1

I love trees.  I don't know why, but I love them and I think they're beautiful, wise and calming. Because of this, I enjoy photographing them, I will be sharing different photographs of trees I have been taking this past year.  Enjoy.

Farewell to an Eyesore

After many decades, all that remains of the infamous Gates Rubber Factory is this last eyesore, everything else has been turned into an overpriced apartment.  Before long, this old sucker that harbors old needles and asbestos will soon be gone too. It's almost hard to imagine not seeing this skeleton during my morning commute to work, it's been here as long as I can remember, and sometimes I wonder if one day, many more decade from now, if anyone will remember it was ever here in the first place...

Almost Spring...

After nasty bout of strep throat (compliments of my students), Justin and I ventured out into the warm, spring-like afternoon for a walk down a quiet greenbelt in the neighborhood.  The UV and the fresh air did me good, but the warm weather was short lived.

Besties

Sunday Visit

Last weekend I went on Sunday visit to a nursing home in Englewood to visit my mother's Yugoslavian godmother. Even in her 90's Daniela has still managed to maintain her spunk.  As a child, I remember being sent to her house when I was too sick to go to school, and endured hours of old world child care that I now look back on fondly.  She is still stubborn, strong, has an impressive memory, quarters her Aspirin, bakes amazing Christmas cookies, and remembers leaving Europe during WWII.

Wonderland

The other day, while on the hunt for a particular brand of coals for my hookah,  I discovered Wonderland in the parking lot of a headshop in Englewood (Headed West: 4811 S Broadway)

Barnum

In the mood for Mexican food at Fritangas, (Federal and Alameda) my partner in crime and I ventured down to the Barnum neighborhood for some grub.  As always, Justin always happily goes along with my photography obsession.

Full Dentures at the corner store for only $599, what a deal!

The Butcher Shop

1UP

So I finally made it to 1UP.  The downtown, adult arcade located on 1925 Blake St.  Saturday was cold and snowy but staying cooped up in the house for another day was less than appealing.  So I ventured out for a friend's birthday and eventually a hoard of us ended up a few blocks away in 1UP.  Honestly, it's a great first date or I'm broke as shit Saturday night hangout.  They have a well stocked bar that also includes cheap drinks, but aside from the booze it's full of classic arcade games, pinball and ski ball machines, I'm talking Tetris, Frogger, Pac Man and the OOOOOLD school Mortal Combat.  The best part is that the games are still old school prices, and the machines take good old fashioned quarters.

Winter Continued...

Old man winter is back and is here to stay for a little while...Wednesday's high looks to be only 9 degrees.  I think the weather is going to match our Superbowl "Victory".
